Trail Description
The West Campus Bluffs Trail begins at a street‐side pullout on Camino Majorca Road in western Isla Vista and follows a mix of paved and decomposed‐granite paths eastward along the bluff edge. Within a half mile, it connects to the Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve trail network and the adjoining Ellwood‐Devereux Open Space areas.
Trail Highlights
This easy bluff‐top stroll offers sweeping ocean vistas and views down to Devereux Slough, where interpretive signage highlights the 170-acre Coal Oil Point Reserve and its role as critical habitat for the Western snowy plover. Seasonal wildflowers and coastal bluff scrub line the trail, and you may spot shorebirds or marine mammals offshore.
Directions
From Highway 101, exit at Glen Annie / Storke Road and head south on Storke Road to El Colegio Road. Turn right onto Camino Corto and follow it to Del Playa Drive. Turn right onto Del Playa Drive, which ends at Camino Majorca Road—street parking is available there for the trailhead.
