Trail Description
The loop begins at the Cold Spring Trailhead along E Mountain Drive. Hikers often opt to proceed clockwise, starting with the East Fork Cold Spring Trail, which follows the creek and involves several crossings. This section is shaded by oak and sycamore trees, offering a cool ascent. After approximately 1.2 miles, the trail reaches a junction; taking the left path extends the hike by 0.6 miles along the Edison Catway, a ridgeline offering expansive ocean views. The descent along the Ridge Trail is more exposed, providing continuous vistas of the coastline before looping back to the starting point.
Directions
From Santa Barbara, head south on US-101 to the Olive Mill Road exit. Turn left onto Olive Mill Road, which becomes Cold Springs Road. Continue to E Mountain Drive and turn right. The trailhead is located near the creek crossing; parking is available along E Mountain Drive.
