2023 Project Update
After receiving grant funding and donations from Community Members, the Lompoc Trails group hired Heidi Jones with Meraki Land Use Consulting to oversee the trail permitting process. The plan was to build trails on an Ag2 zoned property, which required a permit from the County of Santa Barbara.
Project History
Location:
Lompoc, California
Description:
In partnership with the Lompoc Trails group, the Trails Council initiated formal trail planning, mapping, and cutting a preliminary line for the first of five trails in August of 2022. The objective was to plan and brush a trail route for a distance of up to one mile with an average grade not exceeding 10%. Where possible, a lower average of 8% will be pursued. The proposal included lightly brushing and flagging a route for the Lompoc Trails Committee to walk and approve before clearing the chaparral with a minimum of 24 inches (shoulder width) to allow people to walk the preliminary route. The Trails Council funded the labor and material costs of creating the initial line (aka P-Line).
