Trail Volunteers

Why Volunteer?

The most straightforward answer is, for the fun of it. Here are a few more reasons to spend time with us.

Make a Real Difference: Your efforts directly enhance the safety and enjoyment of countless trail users.

Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors, breathe fresh air, and appreciate the beauty of our local trails.

Learn New Skills: Gain experience in trail maintenance techniques, tool handling, and teamwork.

Meet Awesome People: Connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts and build lasting friendships.

Get Some Exercise: Enjoy a fulfilling physical activity while contributing to a great cause.

We understand that volunteering may not be suitable for everyone. Another way trail users can contribute to maintaining these freely accessible trails—like those at Baron Ranch, Franklin Trail, and Midland School Trails, which are built and cared for by the Trails Council—is by providing funds to support both volunteer and professional trail maintenance crews. Please donate.

Our Trail Maintenance Program is Ongoing

We collaborate with the Sage Trail Alliance, Los Padres Forest Association, Montecito Trails Foundation, Lompoc Trails, SMVOS,  and others to coordinate trail volunteer projects throughout the county. To stay informed about upcoming trail maintenance events, please sign up for email notifications.
