On Wednesday, May 13th, the Santa Barbara County Trails Council marked the end of the third annual 5-Peaks Challenge for over 70 successful peak-baggers with a Trails, Tales & Ales event at SB Biergarten.
The Challenge invites participants to summit five major local peaks between February 1st and May 1st, and it takes real physical and mental effort to complete. Many of the peaks require rock scrambling, bushwhacking, and creek crossings to reach the top.
At Trails, Tales & Ales, challenge participants, their supporters, and others from the Santa Barbara hiking community gathered to share summit stories, meet new trail buddies, and enjoy drinks with a view of the mountains. Finishers received certificates to recognize their achievement of bagging five major local peaks.
Next year’s challenge begins on February 1st. Mark your calendar and get ready to take it on!
