Out 'n' About
Our efforts to create new trails and maintain access to existing ones rely on engagement with trail users, land managers, local businesses, and government agencies in Santa Barbara County. Because trails often cross multiple jurisdictions, collaboration is essential, and we strive to engage community members through various communication channels. Our outreach initiatives touch on all of the following:
- Volunteering: The Cornerstone of Engagement
- Educational Outreach: Spreading Awareness and Knowledge
- Collaborative Partnerships: Building Bridges with Stakeholders
- Community Events: Fostering a Sense of Shared Experience
- Advocacy and Policy: Giving Trails a Voice
Volunteering is the foundation of our initiatives. We provide hands-on trail building, maintenance, cleanups, and monitoring opportunities. In addition, our educational outreach includes guided hikes, programs, and online resources that raise awareness about the importance of trails for recreational activities and connecting with nature.
Partnerships with land managers, local businesses, and other organizations enhance our impact. Community events such as trail work days, trail runs, guided hikes, and social gatherings promote camaraderie and celebrate our trails. Furthermore, the Trails Council advocates for trail access and protection through lobbying efforts and participation in public policy, ensuring the long-term sustainability and health of these valuable natural resources.
By integrating volunteering, education, collaboration, community events, and advocacy, the Trails Council supports diverse communities that explore and enjoy the outdoors.
