California Trails & Greenways Conference

The venue for the 2027 California Trails & Greenways Conference is located in Santa Barbara County. The event will be at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort from April 19th to 23rd, 2027.

Trails Council is part of the Local Host Committee that helps plan California Trails & Greenways. Working with other organizations, we will help plan after-hours social/networking events,  keynote and guest speakers, workshops and sessions, and the hike, bike, ride, and run events. California Trails & Greenways provides trail professionals, advocates, volunteers, and users with a venue to share practical, up-to-date trail management and advocacy skills, and a forum for networking and building support for accessible, interconnected, sustainable non-motorized trail systems. Since 1985, this investment of knowledge by California State Parks and the California Trails Conference Foundation has helped ensure trail stewardship and leadership for generations to come.

California Trails & Greenways was developed by California State Parks and the California Recreational Trails Committee in 1984 to address the growing demand for technical assistance by trail professionals and volunteers throughout California. California State Parks’ Planning Division (through the Statewide Trails Section) and other agencies and nonprofit organizations contribute valuable in-kind services, offsetting much of the Conference costs through their donations of staff time and services.

California Trails & Greenways provides opportunities to:

• Network with and talk directly to California’s leading trail experts
• Collaborate with and find new partners to build support for trail endeavors
• Learn a full range of trail management, design, and construction topics in high-quality, innovative sessions
• Experience hands-on learning through day-long field workshops
• Explore exhibits featuring innovative trail-related products and services
• Strengthen your ability to effectively design, build, manage, and promote California’s trails
• Be inspired through keynote and guest speakers and innovative trail projects throughout the state

All activities are designed to increase the knowledge of trail, recreation, and wildland management to improve non-motorized, recreational, and heritage trail systems and programs throughout California.
