Detailed Information
The California Mission Walkers are a community that celebrates and preserves the tradition of walking the modern-day route of the historic El Camino Real, the trail that links California’s twenty-one Spanish-era missions. The group began in 2013 with a small number of passionate walkers who had been exploring and mapping the route since 2002. Today, the organization has grown to more than 2,800 members who share an interest in history, culture, and outdoor adventure. More than 120 members are currently walking between the missions, and 97 have completed the entire 800-mile journey from Mission San Diego de Alcalá to Mission San Francisco Solano.
