Hello, you're invited to join us at one of the following events
for the launch of a new book about the modern

California Missions Trail

through Santa Barbara County and beyond.

The interest in adventure tourism has been growing worldwide and with that goes a booming attraction to walking and cycling long-distance trails (LDTs). Of course, walking and cycling the California Missions Trail is not new in and of itself. Still, the launch of a 320-page book by a British publishing company, Cicerone Press, a leader in books about village-to-village hiking and cycling in Europe — is a big step towards popularizing this form of recreation in California with the release of the new book.

The guidebook is the outcome of a research grant given by the Trails Council to a guidebook author, Sandy Brown, to write a book for Cicerone Press. While gathering information for the book, Sandy cycled the 800-mile route from Sonoma to San Diego and back to Sonoma twice and walked it once. With turn-by-turn directions for an epic long-distance trail, the author captures a slice of California's unique landscapes, people, history, and cultural heritage.
