Founded in 2000, the Santa Ynez Valley Natural History Society (SYVNHS) is a member-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to the study, exploration, and appreciation of natural history in the Santa Ynez Valley region.Through public lectures, field trips, and workshops, SYVNHS provides environmental education focused on the area’s plants, animals, geology, and ecology. The Society believes that experiencing and understanding the natural world fosters greater appreciation and conservation of biodiversity. Programs are designed to be accessible, often offered at free or low cost, and aim to engage the community in meaningful interactions with the local environment. Membership dues support these initiatives, and the Society welcomes volunteers interested in restoration projects and educational outreach.
